Kegalle Market Burned – Owners Appeal to the President

The Kegalle Public Market Complex was completely burned down last week due to a fire incident.

The Public Market was hosting 65 shops and there are about 370 families who were depending on the business establishments for their day to day life income directly. Indirect impact of this is much more in terms of job losses and suppliers income losses.

The shop owners of the public market urge the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s attention to give them urgent relief to reestablish their businesses.

They also emphasize the fact that they were already suffering from the Covid-19 impact from lockdown and closing of businesses since early January.
